Description:

The EF86 International by Philips , produced in 1967 at the Heerlen factory in the Netherlands , is a NOS version built to Philips construction standards and branded for the International brand. It is a low-noise tube with short mesh plates and halo getters , appreciated for its balanced output, low background noise and a transparent and defined timbre.

Bass: Dry but well-present , with good articulation and precision. There's no excess or bloat, but rather a solid control that enhances the clarity of the reproduction.

Mids: Clear, focused, and natural , with a very transparent output. Voices and acoustic instruments are well-defined, with a neutral tone that allows the recording's original character to emerge.

Highs: Extended and delicate , with a good sense of airiness and lack of grain. Balance in the high range is maintained even on analytical systems, without ever being fatiguing.

Dynamics: Prompt and natural response , with smooth handling of microtransients. Dynamic progression is consistent, realistic, and always under control.

Soundstage: Well-built and stable , with a deep soundstage and precise imaging. Instrument separation is clean and allows for focused and engaging listening.

The Philips Heerlen EF86 for International represents an excellent choice for those looking for a balanced, quiet and reliable NOS tube, ideal for phono preamps, line stages, microphone stages , but also for guitar heads such as the Vox AC15 or AC30 , where a detailed, neutral and musical output is desired.

  • Average 100%: Gm = 1800 ; Ia = 3.0 mA
  • Test Result: VERY STRONG

Valve: Gm = 3000; Ia = 6.0 mA
