Description:

Precious selected pair of JAN 12AU7 / ECC82 of authentic TUNG-SOL US production, dating back approximately to the 1950s by construction. The characteristic black plates and D-getter identify one of the most appreciated American configurations of the era, offered here in military JAN version and as a Matched Pair. The silk-screening is almost completely gone, but the internal construction retains all the charm and substance of the best vintage US production.

Both tubes have undergone full measurements with AMPLITREX AT-1000, recording very consistent values: Gm between 1900 and 2000 and anode currents between 9.4 and 10.4 mA. The matching between the two specimens is excellent, while the internal sections are well-aligned and correctly balanced. The pair is therefore also suitable for use as a phase inverter, as well as a driver or in the line stages of hi-fi equipment and guitar amplifiers.

The 48-hour burn-in confirmed strong, stable, and fluctuation-free emission. The Low Noise & Microphonics selection also ensures quiet and controlled operation, suitable even for the most sensitive audio stages. Shorts and gas are absent.

From a sonic perspective, American TUNG-SOL tubes of this generation are generally sought after for an energetic and natural presentation, with a present mid-range, solid and well-articulated bass, and a clean, defined, but never unnecessarily aggressive high-end. A musical and authoritative performance, capable of combining body, dynamics, and good transparency.
