Description

Extremely rare matched pair of 6SN7GT RCA Radiotron, produced in the United States in 1942, belonging to the very first generation of the renowned 6SN7. The construction with Smoked Glass, Silver Logo, Black Plates, and bottom D Getter identifies a very early configuration, highly sought after by collectors and audiophiles today.

These specimens fully represent the quality of RCA production from the early 1940s, with robust construction, selected materials, and internal geometry typical of the first American 6SN7s. The presence of smoked glass and the D getter also contributes to making this pair visually and historically very interesting.

The pair has been carefully tested and selected in our laboratory using the Amplitrex AT-1000 Tube Tester, achieving a VERY STRONG classification. Both tubes were found to have Low Noise & Microphonics and show good balance between sections, with stable and consistent electrical behavior.

Sonically, the early RCA 6SN7GTs are appreciated for their authoritative, natural, and three-dimensional reproduction, with full and controlled bass, rich and textured mids, smooth but well-defined high frequencies, and a wide, deep, and very stable soundstage. The overall character is musical, fluid, and refined, with that combination of body, naturalness, and spaciousness typical of the best RCA productions of the era.

Ideal for hi-fi preamplifiers, driver stages, phase splitters, headphone amplifiers, and all equipment compatible with 6SN7GT that requires a high-quality matched pair.

The tubes are Vintage, carefully tested, and fully functional. The aesthetic conditions are excellent, with well-preserved lettering and minimal signs of aging.

A rare matched pair of authentic RCA Radiotron 6SN7GT Smoked Glass from 1942, genuinely tested and selected by Vacuum Tubes Treasures, ideal for those seeking one of the most fascinating and musically appreciated American productions of the early 6SN7 era.

Additional Tests:

  • Microphonics and noise: Low. Tested and suitable for use in hi-fi equipment and guitar amplifiers, even in the most sensitive audio stages.
  • Balance: Sections are consistent and well-matched, making the tube suitable for use as a phase inverter in hi-fi and instrumental applications.
  • Emission: Excellent – Very strong and stable emission, without fluctuations.
  • Shorts / Gas: absent
