Ultra Low Noise & Microphonics – VERY STRONG - Balanced Sections - Vintage General Electric Production

Test Results:

Tube tested on AMPLITREX AT-1000 Tube Tester:

  • Test Conditions: Va = 250V ; Vg = -8.5V
  • Average 100%: Gm = 2200 ; Ia = 10.5 mA
  • Test Result: VERY STRONG

Tube :

  • Section 1: Gm = 2100 ; Ia = 9.4 mA
  • Section 2: Gm = 2100 ; Ia = 9.2 mA
Additional Tests Performed:
  • Burn-in / Stability Test: 48h – OK
  • Microphonics: Very Low. Tested and suitable for use in hi-fi equipment and guitar amplifiers, even in the most sensitive audio stages.
  • Noise: Low and well controlled. Quiet operation in hi-fi and musical amplifiers in the intended positions.
  • Balance: Excellent - Sections are consistent and well aligned, making the tube suitable for use as a phase inverter in hi-fi and instrumental applications.
  • Emission Quality: Excellent – Very strong and stable emission, without fluctuations.
  • Shorts and GAS: Absent.

Description:

Precious 6189 / 12AU7WA / E82CC General Electric, authentic vintage American production Made in USA, characterized by robust Triple Mica, Gray Plates and Halo Getter construction. The 6189 represents the professional and high-reliability version of the 12AU7/ECC82 family, particularly interesting for audio applications where stability, structural solidity, and low noise play a fundamental role.

The Triple Mica structure increases the mechanical rigidity of the internal assembly and makes this construction particularly suitable for the most demanding applications. Based on the construction characteristics, production is attributable to the late 1950s / early 1960s, a particularly appreciated period of General Electric Made in USA production.

The tube has been carefully tested using the Amplitrex AT-1000 Tube Tester, achieving a VERY STRONG classification. Both sections measure exactly Gm 2100, with anode currents of 9.4 and 9.2 mA: extremely homogeneous values, very close to the nominal reference and indicative of excellent balance between the two triodes. The emission is very strong, stable and free of fluctuations, with no shorts, gas, or anomalies detected.

This specimen has also been selected for Ultra Low Noise & Microphonics, with particularly low and well-controlled noise. It is therefore a choice of particular interest also for the most sensitive audio stages, including V1, preamplifiers and compatible phono stages, as well as for instrumental amplification. The excellent match between the two sections also makes it particularly suitable as a phase inverter in compatible hi-fi and musical applications.

Terms of Sale & Safety

Sales Terms & Product Safety

Each vacuum tube is carefully selected, tested, and verified in our laboratory before shipment. Where stated in the listing, test results, matching data, and declared characteristics refer to measurements performed using the specified test equipment and operating conditions.

Sound descriptions are provided for guidance only and reflect the characteristics generally associated with that particular tube type. Personal sound preferences, tube rolling, or perceived differences between audio systems do not constitute a product defect.

Before installation, please verify the tube’s electrical and mechanical compatibility with your equipment and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

New production and NOS tubes are shipped with a tamper-evident security seal and internal technical documentation to ensure traceability of the product’s condition at the time of shipment.

Product Safety (GPSR)

Vacuum tubes are electronic components intended exclusively for use in compatible equipment and must be installed in accordance with the equipment manufacturer’s instructions.
