6SN7GTB Baldwin by SYLVANIA – Matched Pair – Same Data Codes – Made in USA 1961

AMPLITREX Tested – VERY STRONG – Low Noise & Microphonics - Vintage American Sylvania Production

General Description

This matched pair of 6SN7GTB Baldwin by Sylvania, Made in USA 1961 production, represents a very interesting selection of American Sylvania production intended for Baldwin supplies, a brand historically linked to musical and professional applications.

The tubes are used, but carefully tested, selected and matched in our laboratory as a Matched Pair. The presence of same data codes on both tubes is a positive element, as it indicates batch consistency and greater production and aesthetic uniformity.

The construction is typical Sylvania of the era, with black plates, top halo getter, top getter flashing, black base and a still legible green Baldwin silk-screen print. The general aesthetic conditions are excellent, with minimal signs consistent with age and vintage use. See photos for details.

The pair was tested on an Amplitrex AT-1000 Tube Tester with a VERY STRONG result and was selected as Low Noise & Microphonics, making it particularly interesting for audio applications where stability, quietness, and channel consistency are important elements.

Sonic Characteristics

Bass

Solid, orderly, and well-controlled. The low range maintains good structure without being excessive, offering support and naturalness to musical reproduction.

Mids

Full, musical, and well-present. Vocals and acoustic instruments sound credible, with a pleasant harmonic texture and a typically American tonal rendition.

Highs

Clean, balanced, and well-integrated. The high end maintains good openness without becoming aggressive, promoting smooth and natural listening.

Dynamics

Stable and responsive, with good ability to follow musical passages without stiffness. The very strong electrical behavior contributes to an authoritative and well-controlled performance.

Soundstage

Stable and coherent, favored by the matching between the two tubes and their origin from the same batch. The sound image is orderly, with good instrument separation and a balanced presentation between channels.

🎧 Use in Hi-Fi Amplifiers

This pair of 6SN7GTB Baldwin by Sylvania is suitable for preamplifiers, driver stages, phase splitters, and compatible hi-fi circuits that require a stable, quiet, and musically balanced 6SN7.

The VERY STRONG result, accurate matching, and Low Noise & Microphonics selection make it particularly suitable for systems where channel coherence, low noise, microphonics control, and operational reliability are important.

The Low Noise & Microphonics selection also makes it suitable for sensitive hi-fi applications, always subject to verification of the technical compatibility of the equipment and the circuit position in which it will be used.

🎸 Use in Musical Applications

In instrument amplifiers and compatible circuits, this pair can offer a full, controlled, and dynamically stable response. The Sylvania construction with black plates and halo getter contributes to a solid, musical, and well-defined sound character.

It is an interesting choice for those seeking a vintage American 6SN7GTB pair with good robustness, balanced response, low noise, and predictable behavior in compatible musical applications.
