12AX7 / ECC83 Mullard Blackburn MC1 – Long Gray Plates – Goalpost Getter – Made in GT. Britain 1957

AMPLITREX Tested – Balanced Sections – Low Noise & Microphonics – Vintage Blackburn Production

Description

12AX7 / ECC83 Mullard tube, produced in the historic Blackburn, Great Britain, plant in 1957, with MC1 code, selected for compatible hi-fi and musical applications where British sound character, internal balance, and low noise are required.

The construction with Long Gray Plates and rare Goalpost Getter identifies one of the most fascinating configurations of the early 1950s Blackburn ECC83s, a period particularly sought after by Mullard enthusiasts for their build quality, harmonic richness, and natural musicality.

The tube is in excellent aesthetic condition, with well-preserved original screen printing and a very clean internal structure. See photos for details.

It was tested in our laboratory using the Amplitrex AT-1000 Tube Tester, found to be in perfect working order, with balanced sections and classified as Low Noise & Microphonics. The emission is currently classified as GOOD, while maintaining full operational stability and the authentic character of the early Mullard Blackburns.

From a sonic perspective, it offers a rich, natural, and engaging rendition, with full and credible lows, extremely expressive mids, refined and never aggressive highs. The presentation prioritizes musical coherence, fluidity, and harmonic richness, characteristics that made the Mullard Blackburn long plate of the 1950s famous.

Suitable for tube preamplifiers, line stages, compatible phono stages, integrated amplifiers, vintage British hi-fi equipment, boutique amplifiers, and circuits compatible with 12AX7 / ECC83.

A rare and fascinating Mullard Blackburn MC1 Goalpost Getter 1957, truly tested by Vacuum Tubes Treasures, ideal for those seeking a historic, silent, balanced British ECC83 with an unmistakable sound character.
