12AX7 / ECC83 GE NOS Short Gray Plates Halo Getter Made in USA

AMPLITREX Tested – Low Noise & Microphonics

Description:

This 12AX7 / ECC83 GE – General Electric NOS, Made in USA production, is a single tube selected and tested for audio applications where construction quality, stability, and low noise are fundamental elements.

The 12AX7 / ECC83 is one of the most widely used and sought-after preamplifier tubes in the hi-fi and music world. In this GE American version, with short gray plates and halo getter construction, it offers the solid and reliable character typical of vintage US productions.

The internal structure consists of short gray plates, a 9-pin miniature glass bulb, and a top halo getter. The code 12AX7 and the U.S.A. marking are still legible on the glass, in typical GE style. The screen printing is worn and shows normal wear from long vintage storage, consistent with a vintage NOS tube.

This tube comes with Vacuum Tubes Treasures protective packaging and has been tested on an Amplitrex AT-1000 Tube Tester, resulting in Low Noise & Microphonics, a particularly important characteristic for use in preamplifiers, line stages, drivers, and compatible phono applications.

Sound Characteristics

The 12AX7 / ECC83 GE offers a balanced, clean, and concrete sound reproduction, with a good ability to maintain order and control even in the most sensitive circuits. The overall character is that of a reliable, musical, and well-focused American tube.

Bass
The low register is controlled, dry, and well-defined. It does not tend to artificially inflate the low end but offers a solid and orderly foundation, useful for maintaining precision and rhythm.

Mids
The mids are clear, present, and easily discernible. Vocals sound natural and correctly positioned, with good intelligibility and a balanced timbre, without excessive warmth or intrusive colorations.

Highs
The high range is clean, composed, and well-integrated. The extension is good, with an orderly rendition that favors definition and control, avoiding harshness in properly designed circuits.

Dynamics
The dynamic response is prompt and stable. This GE conveys a sense of control and reliability, with well-managed transients and a good ability to follow musical variations without losing coherence.

Soundstage
The soundstage is focused and orderly, with precise instrument separation and an overall stable presentation. The result is a credible, clean, and well-controlled reproduction.

🎧 Use in Hi-Fi Amplifiers

This 12AX7 / ECC83 GE NOS is suitable for compatible hi-fi equipment, preamplifiers, line stages, drivers, and phono sections where the 12AX7 / ECC83 is specified by the design.

The Low Noise & Microphonics selection makes it particularly interesting for sensitive audio applications, where quietness, stability, and signal purity are fundamental aspects.

🎸 Use in Musical Instrument Amplifiers

In compatible instrument amplifiers, this GE can offer a balanced, defined, and controlled response. It is suitable for those seeking a 12AX7 with a classic American character, good clarity, stable dynamic response, and predictable behavior.

It can be used in preamplification positions, drivers, or compatible gain stages, always respecting the equipment's specifications.

🎯 Note for Audiophiles and Technicians

This tube represents a credible and interesting American GE NOS selection: Made in USA, short gray plates, halo getter, tested on Amplitrex AT-1000, and selected for Low Noise & Microphonics.

The wear of the screen printing is consistent with long vintage storage and does not affect the verified electrical quality. This is not just a generic 12AX7, but a selected, tested, American NOS tube ready for use in compatible circuits where reliability, musicality, and operational stability are required.
