Description

Matched quad of 12AX7 / ECC83 Baldwin by Sylvania, Made in USA 1961 production, selected for compatible hi-fi and musical applications where consistent, quiet tubes with classic vintage American sonic character are required.

Baldwin-branded tubes were intended for high-end electronic organs of the era, where reliability, stability, and long operational life were essential requirements. In this case, the production is traceable to Sylvania Made in USA, with Long Gray Plates and Halo Getter construction, a configuration appreciated for its tonal balance, openness, and natural musicality.

The tubes are in excellent aesthetic condition, with well-preserved internal structure and legible silkscreening. See photos for details.

The quad has been tested and selected using an Amplitrex AT-1000 Tube Tester as a Matched Quad, with a STRONG result and Low Noise & Microphonics classification. The matching between the four tubes makes it particularly interesting for multi-stage equipment or configurations requiring uniformity across multiple circuit positions.

Sonically, it offers a balanced, open, and musical performance, with controlled bass, natural and rich mids, clean and detailed highs that are not aggressive. The soundstage is orderly and stable, favored by the consistency of the quad and the typical character of early 1960s Sylvania production.
