5965 / E180CC NOS NIB SYLVANIA Triple Mica Gold Pin Made in USA

AMPLITREX Tested – Balanced Sections – Low Noise & Microphonics – Vintage Sylvania Gold Pin Production

Test Results

Tested on AMPLITREX AT-1000 Tube Tester

Voltage Test: Va = 150V, Vg = -1.2V
Average 100%:
Gm = 7.00 ; Ia = 10.0 mA
TEST RESULT:
VERY STRONG

Tube 1:

  • Section 1: Gm = 8.57 ; Ia = 12.8 mA
  • Section 2: Gm = 9.14 ; Ia = 13.9 mA

Tube 2:

  • Section 1: Gm = 10.57 ; Ia = 16.8 mA
  • Section 2: Gm = 10.45 ; Ia = 16.6 mA

Additional tests performed:
  • Burn-in / Stability Test: 48h – OK
  • Microphonics: Low. Tested and compliant for use in hi-fi equipment and guitar amplifiers, even in the most sensitive audio stages.
  • Balance: Very good. The sections are consistent and well-aligned, making the tube suitable even for use as a phase inverter in hi-fi and instrumental applications.
  • Emission Quality: Excellent – Very strong and stable emission, without fluctuations.
  • Short Circuits and GAS: None.

Description:

An interesting NOS / NIB pair of 5965 – E180CC Sylvania, authentic US production characterized by the prized Triple Mica with Gold Pins construction. The 6230 code identifies Sylvania manufacturing from 1962, precisely in the 30th week of the year, traceable to the historic Emporium, Pennsylvania plant.

Both tubes show performance clearly superior to the nominal reference of 7.00 mA/V. Tube 1 reaches an average transconductance of 8.86 mA/V with an average anode current of 13.35 mA; Tube 2 measures 10.51 mA/V and 16.70 mA respectively. These are therefore two examples with particularly vigorous emission, although they belong to two different electrical levels and are not intended for applications requiring a strict match between the two tubes.

The strong point of the pair is the excellent internal balance. Tube 1 measures 8.57 and 9.14 mA/V, while Tube 2 reaches 10.57 and 10.45 mA/V, with anode currents that are equally consistent between their respective sections. This feature makes them particularly interesting for circuits that utilize both sections of the single tube and require good operational symmetry.

The Triple Mica construction contributes to the mechanical stability of the internal structure, while the gold pins ensure high-quality contacts and good resistance to oxidation. The 48-hour burn-in confirmed the stability of the parameters, with low microphonics, and no fluctuations, gas, or short circuits.

They are suitable for preamplifiers, buffers, drivers, professional equipment, and measuring instruments designed for 5965 or E180CC, even in the most sensitive audio stages. Since the 5965/E180CC has specific electrical characteristics, it must be used exclusively in circuits compatible with or expressly designed for this type of tube.

In terms of sound, American Sylvania production is appreciated for an open, dynamic, and natural presentation, with a well-articulated midrange, fast and controlled low frequencies, and defined highs without excessive aggression. The excellent internal balance of the sections promotes precision, stability, and orderly reproduction even in the most demanding circuits.

A proposal of notable interest for those seeking two 1962 Sylvania 5965/E180CC NOS/NIB, with Triple Mica, Gold Pins, low microphonics, and emission far exceeding the reference: two authentic examples, carefully tested and characterized by particularly well-balanced internal sections.

Terms of Sale & Safety

Sales Terms & Product Safety

Each vacuum tube is carefully selected, tested, and verified in our laboratory before shipment. Where stated in the listing, test results, matching data, and declared characteristics refer to measurements performed using the specified test equipment and operating conditions.

Sound descriptions are provided for guidance only and reflect the characteristics generally associated with that particular tube type. Personal sound preferences, tube rolling, or perceived differences between audio systems do not constitute a product defect.

Before installation, please verify the tube’s electrical and mechanical compatibility with your equipment and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

New production and NOS tubes are shipped with a tamper-evident security seal and internal technical documentation to ensure traceability of the product’s condition at the time of shipment.

Product Safety (GPSR)

Vacuum tubes are electronic components intended exclusively for use in compatible equipment and must be installed in accordance with the equipment manufacturer’s instructions.

Due to their historical or vintage nature, certain technical specifications may be based on original datasheets or equivalent technical documentation when documentation from the specific manufacturer is unavailable.

Use only with suitable equipment. Keep out of reach of children.

  • ATTENTION PLEASE

Please understand that the writing on the glass of vintage valves has become very delicate over the years and comes off easily. You must handle them with extreme care to avoid this. Wear and damage to the writing on the valves reduces their market value and causes damage. Please exercise extreme caution.
