12AU7WA / CV4003 / 6189 Heinz & Kauffman Black Plates Halo Getter Made in USA

Low Noise & Microphonics – Series “Gammatron”

Description:

This 12AU7WA / CV4003 / 6189 Heinz & Kauffman – “Gammatron” Series , Made in USA , represents one of the most select and valuable variants of the military-industrial 12AU7 family. The construction with black plates and halo getter demonstrates a superior level of quality, designed to guarantee reliability, thermal stability and silence in all operating conditions.

This is a Low Noise & Microphonics example, subjected to our Amplitrex AT-1000 testing process and rated a VERY STRONG TEST , ideal for reference hi-fi applications, professional equipment, sensitive preamplifiers and systems requiring absolute precision and cleanliness.

Sound Characteristics

The tone is balanced, refined, and coherent. The combination of black plates and Gammatron selection allows for a stable, rich, and defined sound, with superior control across the entire spectrum.

  • Bass: Full-bodied, precise, with excellent depth. Clean and well-controlled lows, ideal for transparent systems requiring detail without bloat.
  • Medium: Very natural, fluid, and rich in harmonics. The vocal performance is excellent: rich, believable, and with remarkable timbral realism. Perfect for critical listening.
  • Highs: Extended, clear, and musical. No harshness, no grain: a bright yet controlled high range, with great air and micro-detail.
  • Dynamics: Responsive and linear. The valve precisely follows both rapid and delicate changes, without compression or sagging. Excellent ability to maintain stability even under load.
  • Soundstage: Wide, well-layered soundstage, with stable imaging and excellent instrument separation. The halo-getter configuration contributes to an airy, three-dimensional soundstage.

🎧 Use in Hi-Fi Stereo Amplifiers

Perfect for high-end tube preamps, line stages, tube-based DACs, integrated amplifiers, and noise-sensitive professional equipment. Its quiet operation makes it ideal for high-efficiency speakers and dedicated listening environments.

🎸 Use in Music Amplifiers

Very effective in boutique guitar preamps, professional rack units, and classic mic preamps. It offers headroom, detail, and a very musical response: tight lows, full mids, and clean highs.

🎯 Note for audiophiles and technicians

The Heinz & Kauffman “Gammatron” series is among the most sought after by enthusiasts of vintage American valves, thanks to the mix of black plates, halo getters and low noise selection .

This example, tamper-proof packaged to Vacuum Tubes Treasures standards, represents an excellent choice for high-end systems, professional restorations, and collectors of USA-made tubes.
