Description:

High-quality NOS General Electric 5963 pair, a professional and industrial variant of the 12AU7 / ECC82 family, manufactured in the United States in June 1966. The construction with Long Gray Plates and Halo Getter fully represents the quality of American GE production of the time, prized for its sturdiness, precision, and long-term reliability.

Originally developed for professional applications requiring stable operation and long service life, the 5963 is a particularly interesting choice for many audio devices compatible with 12AU7 and ECC82 tubes. This pair has been selected to offer low noise, reduced microphonics, and excellent electrical uniformity, which are important features in hi-fi systems and musical instrument amplifiers.

Measurements taken with the Amplitrex AT-1000 highlight high-level performance. Tube #1 records perfectly identical values in both sections, at Gm 2300 / Ia 9.8 mA; tube #2 measures Gm 2220 / Ia 9.4 mA and Gm 2200 / Ia 9.6 mA. The values are extremely close both internally and between the two units, confirming accurate matching and excellent balance of all four sections.

Emission was found to be very strong, stable, and free of fluctuations. No gas or shorts were detected, while the low microphonics make the pair suitable even for the most sensitive stages, including inputs, phono stages, and V1 positions, as well as for drivers and phase inverters requiring well-balanced sections.

From a sonic standpoint, these GEs offer a clean, balanced, and precise presentation, with a natural midrange, controlled low frequencies, and good definition in the highs. In hi-fi settings, they promote transparency, image stability, and channel consistency; in guitar amplifiers, they ensure a responsive, controlled, and well-articulated musical output.

A proposal of particular value for those seeking a truly selected NOS GE pair, with Long Gray Plates, very strong values, and high-level balance: two authentic 1966 American tubes, individually tested and ready for quality audio use.
