Description:

The EF86 Amperex Short Mesh Plate , produced in 1960 at the Valvo factory in Germany , is an extremely balanced and quiet NOS version of this famous low-noise pentode, widely used in professional audio, high-end hi-fi and guitar tube heads.

This version with short mesh plates and halo getters offers a transparent, controlled and musically neutral sound, with excellent definition throughout the audio range and a drier and more analytical tonal signature than the Mullard counterparts, but still pleasant and refined.

Bass : Linear and precise, with a quick and well-articulated response. It lacks the punch of the "warmer" versions, but it provides solidity and control even on revealing systems.

Mids : Clear, focused, and very clean. Excellent reproduction of vocals and solo instruments, with a dry, uncolored tone, ideal for those seeking neutrality.

Highs : Extended and transparent, with a good level of fine detail, without grain or harshness. The balance in the high range is maintained even in highly reflective environments.

Dynamics : Lively and responsive, with excellent management of microtransients and a response that makes the sound realistic and vivid even at low volume.

Soundstage : Well-structured, stable, and precise. The soundstage is clear, coherent, and correctly sized, with a typically German sense of order.

The EF86 Amperex Valvo Plant is an ideal tube for applications requiring maximum silence, precision and timbral coherence , both in hi-fi and professional fields. Excellent in phono preamps, microphone stages, line stages , but also in amplifiers such as the Vox AC15 or AC30 , where you want to obtain a clean, detailed and stable response.
