12AX7 / ECC83 TUNGSRAM Short Gray Plate Dual Post Halo Getter Tube Made in Hungary

AMPLITREX Tested – VERY STRONG – Low Noise & Microphonics – Vintage Tungsram Production

Test Results:

Tube tested on an AMPLITREX AT-1000 Tube Tester:

  • Test Conditions: Va = 250V ; Vg = -2V
  • 100% Average: Gm = 1600 ; Ia = 1.2 mA
  • Test Result: VERY STRONG

Tube :

  • Section 1: Gm = 1900 ; Ia = 1.2 mA
  • Section 2: Gm = 1700 ; Ia = 1.0 mA
Additional Tests Performed:
  • Burn-in / Stability Test: 48h – OK
  • Microphonics: Low. Tested and confirmed for use in hi-fi equipment and guitar amplifiers, even in the most sensitive audio stages.
  • Balance: Good. The sections show consistent balance, fully compatible for use in hi-fi settings and musical amplifiers, in all applications where absolute symmetry between sections is not required.
  • Emission Quality: Excellent – Very strong and stable emission, without fluctuations.
  • Short Circuits and GAS: None.

Description

This 12AX7 / ECC83 Tungsram Made in Hungary is an interesting example of European tube production, attributable roughly to the 1960s. The internal construction features short gray plates, a dual-post getter support, and an halo getter, features consistent with Tungsram production of that era.

The manufacturing code and external silk-screening are no longer visible; the attribution to the manufacturer and period is therefore based on the specimen's construction characteristics. The internal structure is intact and clearly identifiable, while the absence of markings is reported with full transparency and documented in the photographs.

After a 48-hour burn-in cycle, the tube was tested with an Amplitrex AT-1000, recording Gm 1900 with Ia 1.2 mA for the first section and Gm 1700 with Ia 1.0 mA for the second. Both sections exceed the nominal transconductance reference, confirming very strong, stable emission free of fluctuations.

The balance is good, with consistent values for both Gm and anode current. The tube is fully suitable for input stages, drivers, and preamplification in hi-fi equipment and guitar amplifiers, in all applications where absolute symmetry between sections is not required.

The low noise and microphonics selection allows its use even in the most sensitive audio stages. Sonically, Tungsram production is appreciated for a dynamic, defined, and natural presentation, with good mid-range presence, controlled bass, and clear yet well-integrated high frequencies.

A vintage European 12AX7 / ECC83 that is particularly excellent electrically: emission above the nominal reference, good coherence between sections, and silent operation. Although the markings are completely absent, the tube has been carefully tested, is perfectly operational, and is free of short circuits or gas.

Terms of Sale & Safety

Sales Terms & Product Safety

Each vacuum tube is carefully selected, tested, and verified in our laboratory before shipment. Where stated in the listing, test results, matching data, and declared characteristics refer to measurements performed using the specified test equipment and operating conditions.

Sound descriptions are provided for guidance only and reflect the characteristics generally associated with that particular tube type. Personal sound preferences, tube rolling, or perceived differences between audio systems do not constitute a product defect.

Before installation, please verify the tube’s electrical and mechanical compatibility with your equipment and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

New production and NOS tubes are shipped with a tamper-evident security seal and internal technical documentation to ensure traceability of the product’s condition at the time of shipment.

Product Safety (GPSR)

Vacuum tubes are electronic components intended exclusively for use in compatible equipment and must be installed in accordance with the equipment manufacturer’s instructions.

Due to their historical or vintage nature, certain technical specifications may be based on original datasheets or equivalent technical documentation when documentation from the specific manufacturer is unavailable.

Use only with suitable equipment. Keep out of reach of children.
