Test Results:

Tube tested on AMPLITREX AT-1000 Tube Tester:

  • Test Conditions: Va = 250V ; Vg = -2V
  • 100% Average: Gm = 1600 ; Ia = 1.2 mA
  • Test Result: VERY STRONG

Tube 1:

  • Section 1: Gm = 1500 ; Ia = 1.0 mA
  • Section 2: Gm = 1600 ; Ia = 1.1 mA

Tube 2:

  • Section 1: Gm = 1600 ; Ia = 1.1 mA
  • Section 2: Gm = 1500 ; Ia = 1.0 mA
Additional Tests Performed:
  • Burn-in / Stability Test: 48h – OK
  • Microphonics: Very Low. Tested and suitable for use in hi-fi equipment and guitar amplifiers, including the most sensitive audio stages.
  • Balance: Very Good. The sections are consistent and well-aligned, making the tube suitable for use as a phase inverter in hi-fi and instrument applications.
  • Emission Quality: Excellent – Very strong and stable emission, without fluctuations.
  • Short Circuits and GAS: None.

Description

Exceptional NOS pair of 7025 / 12AX7 / ECC83 Raytheon, produced in the United States in 1960 and carefully selected as a Matched Pair. Both specimens feature the sought-after Long Black Plates with Halo Getter construction, characteristic of Raytheon's American production during this period. The original codes 280C / 60-41 and 280C / 60-45 identify two tubes manufactured in the 41st and 45th weeks of 1960, respectively. A particularly desirable pair for those seeking authentic NOS American tubes, united by the same construction design and a highly precise electrical match.

The measurements performed with the Amplitrex AT-1000 highlight a particularly significant uniformity. The transconductance of the four sections ranges between 1500 and 1600 µmhos, with an identical average of 1550 µmhos for both tubes, very close to the nominal reference of 1600. The anode currents are also perfectly matched in their averages, equal to 1.05 mA for each specimen, with individual values ranging between 1.0 and 1.1 mA. This correspondence confirms an excellent match between the two tubes, accompanied by very good internal balance.

Both specimens passed 48 hours of burn-in and stability testing, maintaining a very strong and constant emission, without fluctuations, short circuits, or the presence of gas. The tests also confirmed very low noise and microphonic levels, which are particularly important for a tube like the 7025, also intended for the most sensitive amplification stages.

The Raytheon 7025 Long Black Plates are particularly appreciated in hi-fi preamplifiers, compatible phono stages, and guitar amplifiers, even in the V1 position. Their good sectional balance also allows their use as a phase inverter in compatible circuits. Raytheon production from this period is traditionally sought after by audiophiles for a musical presentation generally described as natural, detailed, and harmonically rich, with an expressive midrange and pleasant dynamic articulation.

The value of this pair lies in the combination of authentic 1960 Raytheon production, Long Black Plates construction, NOS condition, and perfectly matched electrical averages. The partially preserved original markings and good overall condition complete a set of particular interest. A carefully selected vintage Raytheon Matched Pair, ideal for enthusiasts who desire original American tubes, with verified stability, extremely low noise, and rigorously documented electrical characteristics.
