5V3 (5AU4) DUMONT NOS NIB Black Plates Double Halo Getter – Tested Tube Rectifier – Made in USA

Description:
The Dumont 5V3 (5AU4) is a full-wave rectifier tube manufactured in the United States during the 1940s–1950s.
Although branded Dumont, this specimen was actually produced by Sylvania, one of the most renowned American manufacturers of that era.
It comes in NOS NIB (New Old Stock – New in Box) condition, featuring black plates and the rare double halo getter system – a configuration that ensures robustness and long operational life.
The tube has been carefully tested on the Amplitrex AT-1000, measuring strong and fully efficient.

Tonal Characteristics and Sonic Behavior

Bass: Deep, tight, and well-controlled, with no unwanted boominess. Provides stability across the entire audio spectrum.

Midrange: Transparent and natural, delivering excellent timbral accuracy on vocals and acoustic instruments.

Highs: Extended and smooth, bright but free of harshness, with a natural decay that brings air and openness to the soundstage.

Dynamics: Fast and coherent, capable of handling both micro-details and complex peaks with confidence.

Soundstage: Stable and three-dimensional, with good instrument separation and a clearly perceptible “black background.”

🎧 Use in Hi-Fi Amplifiers

An excellent choice as a rectifier in high-end stereo amplifiers and preamplifiers.
Its stable power delivery translates into greater detail, transparency, and musical coherence.

🎸 Use in Musical Instrument Amplifiers

Also well-suited for vintage instrument and organ amplifiers, where it ensures reliable, quiet current delivery along with a robust and dynamic sound.

🎯 Note for Audiophiles and Technicians

The Dumont 5V3 (5AU4) Black Plates with double halo getter, manufactured by Sylvania, is considered one of the finest versions of this series.
Its combination of electrical ruggedness and musical sonic performance makes it ideal both for vintage equipment restoration and for use in high-level hi-fi systems.
This specimen is offered as NOS NIB and Amplitrex Tested, ensuring reliable performance and long service life.
