The 5814A Sylvania Gold Brand represents the maximum expression of American construction quality applied to the 12AU7 family.
Manufactured in the USA for military, broadcast and professional instrumentation applications, the Gold Brand series was Sylvania's “top grade” line, subjected to extremely rigorous selection criteria for stability and noise.

This version is distinguished by its triple mica construction (Triple Mica) , introduced to reduce microphonics and increase mechanical resistance, and by the characteristic Red Tip , a factory marking used by Sylvania to indicate low-noise and controlled microphonics specimens.
The gray plates and the square getter ensure stable thermal behavior and a neutral yet refined sound, with a long operating life.

  • Average 100%: Gm = 2200 ; Ia = 10.5 mA
  • Test Result: VERY STRONG

Valve:

  • Section 1: Gm = 2100 ; Ia = 9.4 mA
  • Section 2: Gm = 1900 ; Ia = 8.6 mA
Additional Tests Performed:
  • Microphonics: Very Low. Tested and approved for use in hi-fi and guitar amplifiers.
  • Balance: The sections show a slight deviation in values; excellent for use in hi-fi and musical applications (guitar) where balanced sections are not specifically required.
