12AX7 / ECC83 Wurlitzer by GE Matched Pair Long Gray Plates Halo Getter Made in USA '63

Description:

This matched pair of Wurlitzer-branded 12AX7/ECC83s , manufactured by General Electric in the USA in 1963 , represents a selection of American signal tubes originally intended for professional applications.

The Wurlitzer brand, known for high-quality musical instruments and jukeboxes, relied on suppliers like GE for select, reliable tubes. The internal construction was typical of General Electric of the time, synonymous with solidity and production consistency.

The structure includes:

  • Long Gray Plates
  • Halo Getter
  • robust and precise construction typical of the GE of the 1960s

The tubes have been carefully selected as a Matched Pair and tested in our laboratory on an AMPLITREX AT-1000 , with a STRONG result. They have also been found to be Low Noise & Microphonics , making them suitable even for sensitive circuit positions.

Sound Characteristics

The GE long plates offer a balanced sonic presentation, with a slightly more open and relaxed character than the short plate versions.

Bass: Well extended and controlled. The low range is solid and articulate, with good depth and stability.

Mids: Clear and natural. Vocals emerge with good presence and definition, while acoustic instruments maintain a balanced harmonic reproduction.

Highs: Open and airy. The top end is well-extended and clean, with a fine grain that promotes good detail readability.

Dynamics: Responsive and linear. Dynamic changes are reproduced accurately and naturally.

Soundstage: Wide and well-organized soundstage, with good instrument separation and a stable presentation.

🎧 Use in Hi-Fi Amplifiers

The 12AX7 GE long plates are particularly suitable for:

  • tube preamplifiers
  • phono stages
  • amplifier drivers
  • vintage and modern hi-fi equipment

The combination of low noise and low microphonics makes them suitable even for critical positions such as V1 .

🎸 Use in Music Applications

These tubes are also popular in musical instrument amplifiers for:

  • balanced dynamic response
  • good signal definition
  • stable behavior over time

Features that make them versatile for both studio and live use.

  • ATTENTION PLEASE

Please understand that the writing on the glass of vintage valves has become very delicate over the years and comes off easily. You must handle them with extreme care to avoid this. Wear and damage to the writing on the valves reduces their market value and causes damage. Please exercise extreme caution.
