12AX7 / ECC83 NOS MULLARD – Blackburn (Great Britain) 1959
Long Gray Plates – Halo Getter – Balanced Section – Low Noise & Microphonics

Description:

This 12AX7 / ECC83 NOS MULLARD, produced in the historic Blackburn factory (Great Britain) in May 1959 (f92 B9E), represents one of the most iconic and sought-after versions of the Mullard production of the late 1950s.

The Long Gray Plates configuration with halo getter identifies the classic Mullard “golden era” phase, appreciated for the extraordinary harmonic richness, tonal depth and natural musicality that have made these tubes an absolute reference among audiophiles and musicians.

This unit is in authentic NOS condition , with an engraved manufacturing code, balanced sections, and low noise and microphony. This tube fully expresses the historical prestige and construction refinement of Mullard Blackburn.

Sound Characteristics

Bass: Fuller and more textured than the short-plate versions. The low end is deep, authoritative, and structured, with a sense of greater body and harmonic density.

Mids: The absolute strength of the long plate. Rich, three-dimensional, and harmonically complex. Vocals are more present, palpable, and engaging, with a natural, fluid texture.

Highs: Sweet, airy, and refined. The highs are extended yet elegant, with a controlled brightness that doesn't tire the listener.

Dynamics: Expressive and organic. Microdynamics are particularly evident, with a natural and musical transient response that is never aggressive.

Soundstage: Wide and deep, with a greater sense of three-dimensionality and layering than short plates. The soundstage is stable, realistic, and full of space between instruments.

🎧 Use in Hi-Fi Amplifiers

Ideal for:

  • high-level input and pre-amplification stages,
  • preamplifiers and hi-fi integrated amplifiers where materiality, depth and harmonic richness are sought.

Particularly suitable for jazz, vocal, classical, acoustic music and quality analog recordings.

🎸 Use in Music Applications

Also highly appreciated in:

  • vintage and boutique guitar amplifiers,
  • position V1 in contexts where greater harmonic thickness is desired.

It offers rich harmonics, natural dynamic response and the classic British Mullard character in its fullest expression.

🎯 Note for audiophiles

  • Blackburn “golden era” production with engraved code f92 B9E
  • true NOS condition
  • balanced sections with low noise and contained microphonics
  • one of the absolute references among the Mullard ECC83s of the late 50s

A tube designed for those who want the most expressive, deep and harmonically rich version of the Mullard sound, with superior sonic and collectible value, in true Vacuum Tubes Treasures style.
