12AX7 / ECC83 EICO by MULLARD Blackburn Matched Pair Short Gray Plates Halo Getter Made in GT. BRITAIN '62

Description:

The 12AX7 / ECC83 EICO by MULLARD , produced in the historic Blackburn factory in 1962 , represent one of the most authentic and musically refined expressions of the great British Mullard school.

The EICO marking identifies a supply intended for the professional and hi-fi market, but the valve is in all respects a genuine Mullard Blackburn , made according to the highest standards of the English golden age.

The construction with short gray plates and halo getter is typical of Mullard productions from the early 60s, appreciated for their stability, reliability and an unmistakable, warm and natural sound reproduction.

Sound Characteristics

Bass: Compact, rounded, and well-controlled. The low range is authoritative but never intrusive, with a musical and coherent response that gives structure to the sound message.

Mids: The true Mullard trademark. Rich, dense, and harmonically complete, with extremely natural voices and a full, three-dimensional rendition of acoustic instruments.

Highs: Silky, well-extended, and refined. The highs are elegant and never aggressive, with a sweetness that favors long, engaging listening sessions.

Dynamics: Fluid and natural. Transient response is prompt but always composed, with highly expressive microdynamics that are free from rigidity.

Soundstage: Wide, deep, and stable. The soundstage is well-layered, with realistic positioning and natural separation of musical lines.

🎧 Use in Hi-Fi Amplifiers

Ideal for:

  • medium-high and high quality preamplifiers and input stages,
  • hi-fi amplifiers that seek musicality, naturalness and timbral coherence.

Particularly suitable for jazz, classical, vocal and acoustic music.

🎸 Use in Music Applications

Also highly appreciated in:

  • vintage and boutique guitar amplifiers,
  • applications where rich harmonics, expressive mids and an authentically British sonic character are desired.
