Description:

This pair of Sylvania 5Y3GT / 5Z2P Made in USA tubes makes a particularly interesting match for anyone seeking two vintage American rectifiers with truly uniform electrical characteristics. The construction with black plates, halo getter, GT bulb and octal base is accompanied by the Sylvania Export Quality markings, which can be traced back approximately to production in the 1960s.

The main strength is the exceptional matching of the values: both tubes measured exactly 88 mA and 85 mA. The pair is therefore perfectly matched not only in the overall emission value, but also in the behavior of the individual sections. An ideal selection for equipment that uses two rectifiers and in which uniformity, reliability, and operational consistency are particularly important.

Compared to the 100% average, all sections show a clearly higher emission, confirming an electrical condition that is very strong, stable, and regular. The internal balance is also excellent: the difference of only 3 mA between the two sections of each tube promotes uniform rectification and balanced power supply operation. The tests also ruled out the presence of short circuits and gas.

The 5Y3GT tubes are used in guitar amplifier power supplies, radio equipment, hi-fi systems, and numerous vintage tube electronics. The pair can also be used in equipment designed for the equivalent 5Z2P rectifier, after verifying the specifications indicated by the manufacturer.

A matched pair of Sylvania tubes of authentic American production, difficult to replicate due to the identity of the values: two tubes with uniform construction, emission well above average, and perfectly matched with each other. A choice of particular quality for careful restorations and equipment in which two reliable and consistent rectifiers are required.

  • Aesthetic condition: Very good – Markings clearly legible with slight signs of age. On one of the two specimens, there is an aesthetic irregularity in the getter deposit, which does not affect the correct operation or the electrical matching of the pair. Both tubes have been regularly tested. See photos for details.
  • Manufacturing Code: Code not decipherable. Sylvania Export Quality. Production attributable approximately to the 1960s based on construction characteristics.
