Description

Fine 12AX7 / ECC83 AMPEREX Bugle Boy mC6, authentic Philips Heerlen Made in Holland 1959 production, featuring the sought-after Long Plates with Foil Getter construction, one of the most interesting and desired configurations among vintage Dutch ECC83s from the late 1950s.

The engraved code mC6 Δ9C identifies the historic Philips plant in Heerlen, Holland, and places production in March 1959. The famous Amperex Bugle Boy branding, combined with the Long Plates and Foil Getter, makes this example particularly interesting both for use in high-level audio systems and for those seeking authentic vintage European productions.

The tube has been carefully tested in our lab using the Amplitrex AT-1000 Tube Tester, achieving a VERY STRONG classification. The two sections measured respectively Gm 1200 / Ia 1.1 mA and Gm 1400 / Ia 1.2 mA, with excellent, very strong and stable emission. The balance is good and fully compatible with use in hi-fi and musical amplifiers.

It also passed a 48-hour Burn-in / Stability Test and was selected as Low Noise & Microphonics, making it suitable even for the most sensitive audio stages, including the V1 position, as well as preamplifiers, phono stages, and guitar amplifiers. No shorts, gas, or anomalies were detected.

Sonically, the Amperex Bugle Boy Long Plates Heerlen are particularly appreciated for a rich, airy, and musical sound, with natural and well-articulated mids, present but controlled bass, and open and detailed high frequencies. The soundstage tends to be wide and three-dimensional, with a fluid and refined presentation that has made these early Dutch productions particularly sought after by tube-rolling enthusiasts.

Ideal for hi-fi preamplifiers, phono stages, integrated amplifiers, line stages, DACs and tube buffers, and guitar amplifiers compatible with 12AX7 / ECC83, especially when the character of historical Philips/Amperex Heerlen productions is desired.

The tube is Vintage, carefully tested, and perfectly functional. The cosmetic condition is sufficient, with the labels almost completely faded, but the manufacturing code remains identifiable. It comes in our custom box for optimal protection.
