Description:

Interesting Matched Pair of 12BH7A General Electric, vintage American production attributed to the 1960s, characterized by the classic Oval Gray Plates with Horse Shoe Getter construction, representative of the solid GE production of this period.

The 12BH7A is a dual triode particularly appreciated in driver and line stages due to its good driving capability, robustness, and operational stability. These General Electric Made in USA specimens retain the typical construction of American productions of the era and represent an interesting choice for both vintage hi-fi equipment and instrument amplifiers.

The tubes, used but still electrically strong, have undergone 48 hours of burn-in / stability testing and subsequently tested in our laboratory using the Amplitrex AT-1000 Tube Tester, achieving a STRONG rating. The pair was selected as a Matched Pair based on good transconductance consistency between the two tubes and was found to be Low Noise & Microphonics, with stable behavior and no anomalies detected.

The internal sections, however, do not exhibit sufficiently rigorous balancing for applications requiring two perfectly symmetrical triodes. For this reason, the pair is recommended for driver stages, line stages, and other non-critical positions, as well as in guitar amplifiers, while it is not the ideal choice as a phase inverter when a strict balance between sections is required.

Sonically, vintage 12BH7A GE tubes are appreciated for a solid, dynamic, and natural presentation, with good presence in the bass range, full and well-defined mids, and clean and controlled highs. The typical driving capability of the 12BH7 contributes to energetic and authoritative reproduction in equipment designed for this tube.

The tubes are Vintage Used, carefully tested and perfectly functional. Aesthetic conditions are adequate for their age and previous use, with partially faded or barely legible silk screening and evident signs of time.
