Prized Matched Pair of 12AU7 / ECC82 RCA, authentic American production Made in USA from 1956, featuring the sought-after Black Plates with Square Getter construction. A particularly interesting configuration of the early 12AU7 RCA, ideal for those seeking the character of historical American productions from the 1950s along with a pair carefully selected for electrical behavior and quietness.

The manufacturing code 6-09 places production in the 9th week of 1956 and refers these units to the Radio Corporation of America, Camden, New Jersey. The Black Plates / Square Getter combination, typical of vintage RCA productions of the period, further enhances the technical and collectible interest of the pair.

The two tubes have been carefully tested in our laboratory using the Amplitrex AT-1000 Tube Tester, obtaining a VERY STRONG classification. The transconductance values of the four sections range between Gm 1800 and 2020, with very strong, stable and regular emission. The pair was selected as a Matched Pair based on the good overall correspondence of the electrical parameters between the two units.

Both have also passed a 48-hour Burn-in / Stability Test and have been selected as Low Noise & Microphonics, with low and well-controlled noise. They are therefore also suitable for sensitive audio stages, as well as for hi-fi preamplifiers, input stages, drivers and guitar amplifiers. However, the individual internal sections are not perfectly balanced; for this reason, the pair is not recommended when each tube must operate as a phase inverter or in circuits requiring strict symmetry of the two triodes.

Sonically, vintage RCA Black Plates 12AU7 are particularly appreciated for a full-bodied, musical and natural presentation, with rich and well-structured mids, solid and controlled bass, and soft yet well-defined high frequencies.
